Marc graduated from Duke University with a degree in Accounting in 1977 and received his MBA in 1979 from Wake Forest University emphasizing Finance. Following graduation, Marc was recruited by Allied Chemical, which merged into Honeywell International, as financial analyst and portfolio manager.
From 1984-1992, Marc had responsibility for the Warner-Lambert pension and savings funds and managed the internal equity and fixed income portfolios. In 1992, Marc was recruited back to Honeywell International, where he had portfolio management responsibility for the internally managed US equity portfolios, and served on the investment committees for the UK and Canada pension plans. In late 2004 Marc was a founding member of Value Architects Asset Management, an asset management firm that managed or monitored about $400 million in assets. Marc created Shapiro Asset Management at the end of 2007. He completed the Harvard Business School Executive Program on behavioral investing, and is Six Sigma certified.
